Widening Participation and Outreach
With Government reforms changing the face of education, institutions are under more pressure to ensure they offer appropriate activities as part of their widening participation and outreach remit.
With increased fees comes increased expectation, and with the closure of organisations such as Aimhigher and Connexions, there is a now an ever growing empty space in widening participation and outreach from Universities. It is vital, however, that we continue strengthening links between Secondary schools, FE colleges and raising awareness of HE from within local communities.
2engage performing arts established in 2004, have been delivering widening participation and outreach programmes since its inception. In recent years 2engage worked in partnership with Aimhigher delivering a series of performances looking into Higher education and progression, highlighting choices to a number of Aimhigher borough’s.
During this time 2engage were also involved in delivering a number of workshop programmes for Aimhigher and the University of Chester as part of various outreach events. These interactive sessions were:
- Barriers to learning – Dyslexia etc.
- Dream Timetable – University is different
- Hopes and fears for University
- Summer school programmes
Many of these sessions were designed to raise aspirations and self esteem and they have beeen specifically designed to work with hard to reach or disadvantage groups of young people.
As a company, 2engage continue to develop new relationships with established institutions and take pride in creating bespoke work for organisations and individuals alike.
