Testimonials

At 2engage we strongly value our feedback from anyone who has seen or been involved with the work we do, it is essential in giving us the motivation, the encouragement and the assurance we need to develop our work and to benefit the individuals we work with. Here are some of our testimonials from our fantastic clients:

“Just feeding back about the ‘My Town-My Job’ project and we found all the performances were very well received by the staff, the students and the parents really enjoyed it too. We did some consultation with the young people afterwards and asked them what they thought the best parts of the project were. Several of them mentioned your performances. Thanks and regards.”
Janet Jones / Connexions co-ordinator – Cheshire and Warrington

“The Manchester high schools who hosted the “University Challenge” were full of praise for the performance and felt it was pitched appropriately for the Year 9 learners, who were embarking on choosing their options. I can thoroughly recommend 2Engage and look forward to them coming to our schools again.”
Christine Oldham / Aimhigher Manchester boroughs Co-ordinator

“The drama duo were really good; talented and hilarious. I think all the universities were impressed with them and they got the idea of Higher Education across in a really entertaining way. The students that did attend were much focussed and asked some really good questions afterwards. I thought the HE evening was well organised and had the right amount of information and advice sessions. The Performing Arts Duo seemed really well received and was an enjoyable performance. I thought the event was good, I think the drama presentation was brilliant in that it inspired the students to come and talk to the universities. I was busy from the end of the show till way after closing time! Fantastic show!”
Jed Jepson / University Events Co-ordinator North West

“Just wanted to write to say a big thank you from myself, the sixth form tutors and the year 12 students for the excellent induction programme you delivered for us on Tuesday 7th September. We feel that the day was a huge success and was thoroughly enjoyed by the whole of year 12. We look forward to working with you again in the future.”
Yleana Morris / Head of Sixth Form – Lysander

“2engages University Challenge performance delivers a clear and thoroughly engaging message about young people’s future choices, options and expectations when they come to leave school through the medium of drama/comedy. By breaking down these areas into humorous, digestible sketches it turns what could be a very boring advice and Guidance session into a fun, aspiration raising performance. It’s a fantastic show that is applicable to various year groups and can be delivered anywhere from a small class room to a large school hall or performance space. All of the students/ teachers that have watched it have found it completely engaging with the Q+ A session at the end proving to be a great success (as proven by the amount of questions that 2engage are asked). This is something that Aimhigher certainly plan to tour in our schools again…”
Les Barrett / Creative Industries Coordinator – AIMHIGHER

“2engage Theatre Company came to the Hammond School to take part in a “Green Careers Day”. They, in conjunction with Connexions, took part in a presentation to the students, which demonstrated through role-play the kinds of employment opportunities found in the “Green” sector. 2engage also presented their performance “What A Wonderful World”. This was a highly effective piece of physical theatre that addressed the issues of climate change and the environment. It was funny, informative and certainly grabbed the student’s attention. It was obvious from the subsequent discussions that the students found this piece to be thought provoking and stimulating and led to lots of questions being asked and answered.”
Amanda Hatfield / Hammond School theatre in education

“2engage gave an outstanding performance to a group of year 10 pupils from Salford who visited the University of Chester for a 2 day university taster residential in March 2008. The performance was written especially for the event and focused on the options available to young people in terms of choosing whether to go to university or get a job. The enthusiasm of the performance captured the attention of the audience and it was funny, thought provoking and pitched at just the right level. The pupils were motivated by what they saw and feedback from teachers was fantastic; they would like to invite 2engage into their schools to do some further work with the pupils.”
Victoria Riley/ Widening Participation Officer

“2engage were well priced, of high quality, relevant and relative to our group. In the workshop they managed to move effortlessly through a range of drama techniques, physical theatre, mime, still image, characterisation. Their own performance captured the attention and thoughts of the young people by being issue based yet fun. Their professional approach was second to none and was maintained whilst being dynamic, energetic and informal. Their commitment is demonstrated not only by recognising the power and potential of drama as a tool to educate and communicate, but by being visionary in setting up their own business to provide such important work. I would not hesitate in recommending and using them in the future.”
Andrew Seedall / Cheshire Youth Service

“I am writing to thank you for your efforts delivering the stage combat workshops last week. It was a huge success among staff and pupils alike. The content was fun and interesting and your enthusiastic and fast-paced delivery actively engaged all the pupils from start to finish. The pupils from both sessions gave a great deal of positive feedback following the workshops and one pupil stated that ” It was the best lesson I have ever had” Reviews don’t come much better than that.”
Ms B Rose – Director of Physical and Cultural Education / Pensby High School for Boys

“2engage delivered two 2-hour workshops at Oxted School to year 10 and year 11 GCSE drama students respectively. The workshops were extremely well pitched, fast paced, challenging yet fun and developed the students’ skills in physical characterization through a series of highly enjoyable exercises. The company also performed their entertaining and thought-provoking show ‘Communication’ on both occasions. The audience’s frequent laughter during the show and animated conversation afterwards was clear evidence of the productions great success! I would recommend this high energy, exciting young company to any school looking for a positive and physical drama experience for their students.”
Dave Morris – Oxted School – Surrey

I whole heartedly recommend 2engage and will defiantly be using them again.”

An enthusiastic company with a love of theatre.”

“On behalf of the students from yesterday can I just say a very big thank you! You were very inspiring to them; they have been buzzing today which is great to see.”
Louisa Dennett, Head of Drama, Ellesmere Port Catholic High

“2engage came to the pupil support unit for a whole day. They worked with long term and dual registration children with equal success. Children found the task challenging and fun and they covered a vital area of the literacy curriculum in drama. The children they worked with often-displayed challenging behaviour, this was not an issue during the activities. During the classes, the

children were motivated and enthusiastic and afterwards expressed their views in a positive and constructive way. All who were involved were quickly engaged and took part fully. The work was aimed at children of all ability levels and was cross curricular linked to the history QCA study unit, the Aztecs. The children learned various aspects of Aztec life through drama and learned facts and dates through the exercises. They were also encouraged to offer ideas and thoughts on the activities. The day was a positive and pleasant one with both the drama teachers and children gaining a positive outcome.”
Barry Whitney – Head of Pupil Referral Unit / Leeds

“I just wanted to say that Whalley Range Sixth Form really really enjoyed your performance. It was the highlight of the day. The rest was boring compared to you guys. Thank you so much for performing for us and making university seem like such a wonderful place and not as scary as we anticipated. You guys are brilliant and do an amazing job. You really opened my mind about the different opportunities that are out there and we should just go for it. Thank you so much.”

“Great sessions. I loved the facial expressions. Well written and thought provoking. In terms of schools, perhaps you could offer drama and a follow up workshop/discussion with some linked materials to support further planning based on issues that arise. Please keep in touch in case I can get some work for you in the West Midlands.”
Richard Smith – Local Authority ICT consultant

“The leaders of the workshop were so professional and friendly with the group, immediately putting them at ease. They gradually built up the skills and by the end of the workshop the pupils were so much more confident with the techniques, it was wonderful to see. Since the workshop they have built up their own pieces of work using the Godber style, and are so much more able in their skills, and should do well in their assessment.”
Helen Openshaw – Drama Teacher – Caldew High School, Cumbria

“Sandbach School for Boys is a prestigious school with Arts Status. Our results in Performing Arts are nothing short of exceptional when compared to Cheshire LEA and the National Average for boys. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 (2007 yet to be awarded), The Good Schools Guide presented the department with the award for “Best Independent School for Boys for Performance Studies at A-Level”. In October 2007, 2Engage delivered five innovative and creative practical workshops.

They led three workshops with 61 Y10 GCSE Drama students. Each session focussed on the theories of influential dramatic practitioners: Stanislavski, Brecht and Artaud. 2Engage transformed these theorists into three hours of practical activities which engaged, challenged, informed and stimulated our boys. The performances our students created during these workshops showed an acute awareness of the practitioners’ theories and were a testament to the creativity, innovative vision and assured teaching style of the company. The plenary session highlighted just how much the boys had absorbed during the session.

Practical work in lessons, since the workshops, has been transformed; our students now have a more developed understanding of the subject, they have more self-confidence, a greater wealth of experience with which to draw from and a real sense of theatrical knowledge.

All of the students thoroughly enjoyed these sessions and gave 2Engage nothing but positive feedback.

Two more workshops were then created and delivered to two sets of Y9 students – one was 60 mixed ability students and the other, a group of 35 Gifted and Talented boys. The company’s brief was to produce engaging and enjoyable workshops that focused on performance skills and Berkovian physical theatre techniques. What they delivered was beyond my expectations; their use of creative activities really captured all of our students and absolutely fulfilled the brief. The consensus after the workshops was one of delight. 2Engage really do live up to their name – they aim to engage all students involved and this is certainly achieved without exception.

I will be using the company again, and again, and again… And I highly recommend that you do the same. Companies like this do not come along very often so ‘engage’ them while you can.”
Melanie Cutler- Head of Performing Arts- Sandbach School

“I have now received feedback from the Dutch students and they all enjoyed the workshop very much. We will certainly want to use you again next year! Thanks.”
Judith Gilmour – Assistant Head Teacher (Community Development) Neston High

“2engage performed ‘Next Steps’ to 134 Year 10 pupils from 11 schools in Salford as part of an Aimhigher Residential at Chester University. The performance was enjoyable, interesting and informative. Pupils commented that it made them think about their future and made them want to try hard at school.”
Lizzy Reed – Salford Aimhigher Co-ordinator

“2engage came to Salford City College to deliver a series of physical theatre workshops. The workshops gave students a real insight into the genre of physical theatre, showing them new and exciting ways to use the body and voice in performance. The energy and pace of the workshops helped to quickly engage the students and left them inspired and enthused. A huge thank you”
Helen Black – Salford College

“The performance and response of the pupils was excellent. The head of year was very impressed because even the most difficult pupils in the cohort were fully engaged. Thank you very much. In fact the co-ordinator for careers is interested in additional performances if they are available? Thanks again for the performance and the professional delivery and attitude of the young actors you sent.”
Sharon Worthington – St Marys Catholic High School

“The students really enjoyed it and think they have benefited a lot too. They all listened really well which is a sure sign they enjoyed it. Really liked the performers motivational speech on higher education as well after the performance. Thanks again.”
Karen Norris – Chorlton High – Manchester

“I liked the performance, it taught people what you should do and not do. Also they said don’t be scared to tell anyone which I though was very important”
(Risking It All) Year 10 student- The Catholic High School, Chester

“I thought that the performance was hard hitting truths and they were well-rehearsed and well executed”
(Risking It All) Year 10 student- The Catholic High School, Chester

“They tried to get across the idea of thinking about the possible consequences of what you do and the risks that you may take – it was about learning to make the right decisions”
(Risking It All) Year 10 student- The Catholic High School, Chester

“The topics and issues performed and discussed are relevant and pertinent to the difficult decisions and risks faced by teenagers in today’s modern world. Having a drama played out in front of them gave students the chance to reflect and see for themselves the bad choices people can make. The students could relate to the performers and felt confidant to ask questions at the end of the performance. I would definitely recommend this play to other Secondary schools and feel it’s appropriate for Key Stage 4 students and above only. The ‘2engage’ team shared the script prior which gave me and the leadership team the chance to see if the content was appropriate for our students.”
Mr Green- Head of Year 10, The Catholic High School, Chester
