Overview: ‘Choices’ is a play that explores the different choices available to pupils from year 8 going in to year 9.

Keys Aims:

  • Raise awareness of choices available to year 9 students at key stage 3.
  • Encourage individuals to make a well informed, realistic decision about their next steps.
  • Promote resources such as career advisors, teachers, and significant others to help in making option choices.
  • Use pre-released character videos to give an extra insight into worries and fears of options before the show.

Output:

  • Touring since January 2011
  • Over 92% pupils said the show helped them with their choice options. Over 800 asked.
  • 100% pupils said the show was the most effective way to get the message across about choices.

Synopsis:

‘Choices’ focuses on the huge array of options available to pupils in years 9 and 11. Considering GCSE and post 16 options can be a scary and stressful time for students, and this show aims to ease some of those fears and highlight the importance of making a well-informed decision. Everybody has strengths and weaknesses and different learning styles, and this show is an entertaining and informative way to help young people make the right choice for them.

The performance is adaptable for both year 9 and year 11 students, with regards to GCSE and post 16 options respectively. This edition has been updated in response to the English Baccalaureate (EBACC).
