Case Study: Travel and Tourism Workshop for University Business School

Overview: To create an interactive workshop for Travel and Tourism students looking at the effects of ‘all inclusive’ package holidays on locals and the travel companies.

Keys Aims

  • To provide Travel and Tourism students with real issues that travel companies have to overcome
  • Explore the dilemmas facing Travel Companies and their responsibility to the local community
  • Debate local economic and social effects of tourism saturation in popular holiday destinations

Outcome
2engage delivered an interactive workshop for students that used theatrical techniques such as Boal’s Forum theatre and teacher in role to enable students to engage and interact with a topic in a new way with a fresh approach. Most of the participants had never taken part in a workshop session of this kind. It allowed the students to practice role playing techniques, debate key issues surrounding the industry and have a better understanding of other peoples points of view.
